About the Role

CNS Healthcare is seeking a skilled Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team on a part-time basis. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide psychiatric evaluations, evaluation and management services, care coordination, assessments, consultations, medication management, and follow-up appointments for children and adolescents with a variety of mental and behavioral healthcare needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, evaluation and management services, care coordination, assessments, consultations, and medication management for children and adolescents.
  • Assess and diagnose according to the criteria outlined in the most recently published Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders.
  • Consult with caregivers, parents, guardians, personal support systems, and other professionals to coordinate care and provide individualized recommendations for integrated care.
  • Order and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests as deemed clinically necessary.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, including controlled substances and other classifications of medications.
  • Recommend and encourage the use of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for tobacco, alcohol, and opioid use disorders.
  • Provide education on chronic health conditions, disease processes, healthy lifestyle management, vaccinations, and medication management.
  • Participate in case reviews, recommend treatment approaches, and contribute to the establishment of psychiatric programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Engage in publication opportunities and testify in judicial proceedings as needed.
Requirements
  • Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited School of Medicine.
  • Completion of a residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.
  • Obtain or possess and maintain Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) credential within 90 days of employment.
  • Active board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
  • Current, unrestricted, State of Michigan license to practice as a medical doctor.
  • Valid and unrestricted Michigan controlled substance license.
  • Controlled Substance Registration Certificate from the Drug Enforcement Administration.
  • DATA 2000 Waiver to treat opioid use disorders from the DEA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prior clinical experience and demonstrated proficiency in medical management, crisis, and behavior management techniques for children and adolescents.
