POSITION DETAILS

Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily task assignments from the Quality Manager. This role involves distributing work to the inspection team and ensuring that all tasks are completed in alignment with established schedules. The supervisor will ensure that the inspection team adheres to quality benchmarks, operational efficiency, and environmental health and safety policies. Additionally, this position will assist the Quality Manager in enhancing inspection processes and protocols.

The supervisor will conduct and document mechanical, visual, and nondestructive evaluations of assemblies and components. This role requires collaboration with various departments, including Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, Sales, and Quality Assurance, as well as external customer representatives.

Inspections will encompass verifying product compliance with relevant engineering, quality assurance, and contractual specifications. Assembly inspections will include, but are not limited to, order requirements, testing acceptability, product markings, customer-required tagging, product cleanliness, workmanship, proper installation and tightening of fasteners, preservation, packaging, and all associated markings for completeness and accuracy. The supervisor will also support other quality inspection functions, including nondestructive testing, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, document review, and training of quality personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee workflow in inspection cells and execute priorities established by the supervisor
  • Monitor daily performance metrics
  • Maintain and track all Level I Material associated with contracts
  • Facilitate proactive communication with customers regarding Level I components
  • Assist with audits related to contract compliance and Level I material disposition
  • Collaborate with the manager to identify inspection priorities with planning and manufacturing supervisors
  • Communicate with quality, manufacturing, and design engineering teams regarding non-conformance issues
  • Conduct daily team meetings to ensure continuity of priorities
  • Maintain quality documentation
  • Train new employees on quality processes and tools
  • Work with manufacturing and quality teams to identify opportunities for process enhancements
  • Perform in-process and final inspections of machined parts and assemblies to ensure compliance with drawings and quality standards
  • Verify that completed assemblies meet drawing and testing specifications
  • Ensure data plates and tags are accurately marked
  • Confirm that test reports fulfill all stated requirements
  • Identify and document nonconforming items and collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to address these issues
  • Engage with Engineering and other functional groups for problem resolution
  • Complete necessary checklists and contract analysis for relevant programs
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives as required
  • Perform additional quality-related tasks as needed
  • Complete required training and courses as assigned by the manager
Candidate Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of inspection methodologies, including nondestructive testing, visual inspection, in-process, and final inspections
  • Proficient in the use of basic inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges
  • Able to interpret and understand technical drawings
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Advanced computer proficiency, particularly in MS Office
  • Awareness of environmental health and safety standards
  • Exceptional problem-solving capabilities
  • Leadership skills in a frontline capacity
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant certifications or training records demonstrating advanced inspection skills
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in inspection roles
