Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team at Volunteers of America Mid-States. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in providing direct care, training, and assistance to individuals with developmental disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the comfort, safety, and well-being of our consumers, while also promoting their independence and autonomy.

Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor the comfort and safety of consumers, ensuring their medical, nutritional, and personal care needs are met.
  2. Interact with consumers in an emotionally supportive and therapeutic manner, reinforcing positive behaviors.
  3. Provide transportation and assist consumers with integration into the community.
  4. Perform general housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, and laundry duties.
  5. Complete assigned cleaning tasks and general maintenance to maintain a clean environment.
  6. Participate in ongoing training programs and attend mandatory staff meetings.
  7. Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma preferred.
  • The ability to read, write, and understand the English language.
