The Educational Technology Specialist II will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Designing and updating training programs and resources aimed at supporting academic technology initiatives. This includes promoting the integration of technology in education by creating engaging demonstrations and organizing workshops focused on innovative instructional practices.
  • Offering foundational troubleshooting assistance to faculty regarding the learning management system and other academic technologies endorsed by the university.
  • Assisting educators in the integration of technology into their teaching and research, which includes providing personalized training and guidance to develop technology-enhanced learning materials.
  • Conducting research and assessments of emerging technologies for their applicability in educational settings.
  • Staying informed on the latest trends in e-learning by reviewing published literature and engaging in continuous professional development through various training opportunities and conferences.
  • Upholding the core values of Creighton University by fostering an inclusive and diverse work and learning environment while adhering to ethical standards and job requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Educational Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with eLearning technologies in an academic context, ideally within higher education.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with learning management systems (preferably Canvas), web conferencing tools, and lecture capture technologies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with contemporary instructional theories that support collaborative learning through technology.
  • Proven ability to create and deliver training sessions for individuals and groups, both in-person and online.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Expertise in utilizing and troubleshooting educational technologies relevant to distance education and hybrid teaching.
  • Understanding of digital accessibility standards and principles.
  • Knowledge of various operating systems.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
