The Role
- Provide technical support to plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute full life cycle commissioning of critical facilities.
- Participate in the MEP design process to ensure seamless integration.
- Witness static and dynamic testing of complex mechanical systems to validate performance.
- Develop and execute test procedures to ensure compliance with design specifications.
- Prepare meeting minutes and reports to facilitate communication among stakeholders.
- Interact with contractors to interpret design and specifications, ensuring accurate implementation.
- Conduct site observation surveys and prepare field reports on project status and completion.
- Prepare punch list reports and determine corrective measures for on-site issues.
- Prepare general condition survey reports to document project progress.
- Familiarize yourself with local project regulations, construction practices, and the latest equipment functional concepts.
- Ensure adherence to project safety requirements, including on-site regulations.
- Perform routine calculations to validate system performance.
- Act as project coordinator, coordinating with other field engineers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with design specifications.
The Experience Profile
- Experience in commissioning mechanical systems in a data center or large commercial/industrial setting, typically 500kVA or above, or a senior commissioning role with the ability to interpret data.
- Ability to determine and interpret data from various sources, such as external PQM waveforms and data logs.
- Ability to determine pass/fail criteria for system performance.
- Conversant in data center topologies, including N+1, N+2, and 2N designs.
- Fault finding and trouble-shooting knowledge of integrated systems, such as HVAC, chillers, CRAC units, refrigeration systems, UPS systems, generators, and switchgear.
- Ability to interpret overall design intent of integrated systems and advise on operational aspects to ensure system performance.
- Working knowledge of network and communications, including Modbus/ethernet and SCADA systems.
- Understanding of data center commissioning levels and requirements to move from level-to-level.
- Knowledge of scheduling, planning, and reporting.
