Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Development Team in Northeast Ohio. As an intern, you will play a key role in supporting our Heart Challenge and Go Red for Women events, driving their success and contributing to the planning, execution, and follow-up of these impactful campaigns.

The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students with hands-on experience in various facets of a non-profit organization. You will gain practical experience and receive training in disciplines such as volunteer recruitment, community event planning, public health research, community partner networking, and program development.

Responsibilities


• Event Planning & Support: Assist with pre-event logistics, on-site event management, and post-event follow-up for Heart Challenge and Go Red for Women events.
• Event Participant Outreach & Engagement: Conduct pre-event outreach to attendees, follow-up calls to past and current participants, and support engagement efforts.
• Sponsor Support: Assist with sponsor presentation preparation, gathering materials, and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
• Data & Reporting: Assist with data entry, report generation, and tracking progress and outcomes.
• Administrative Support: Assist with administrative tasks, such as preparing materials, assembling thank-you cards, and organizing event supplies.
• Hands-Only CPR Events: Support the planning and execution of Hands-Only CPR demonstrations, promoting our mission of creating a world of healthier lives.

Qualifications


• Candidates with a degree in business, communications, nonprofit fundraising, or event management.
• Experience or interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with comfort working with community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
• Basic knowledge of Canva and intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and entities.
• Reliable transportation and a minimum availability of 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:30am and 5pm.
