Role Summary

Petco is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian II to join our team at our state-of-the-art Vetco Total Care veterinary full-service hospital. As a key member of our hospital team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care, collaborating with colleagues, and contributing to the growth of our practice.

This challenging and rewarding role involves providing high-quality medical care to a wide range of patients, from routine check-ups to complex surgical procedures. You will work closely with our experienced veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless communication and top-notch patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional patient care through physical examinations, diagnoses, treatments, and preventive care according to individual patient needs
  • Collaborate with our veterinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans, including diagnostics, medications, and follow-up care
  • Conduct routine and complex surgical procedures, such as spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their concerns, and providing education on pet health and wellness
  • Participate in rounds, contribute to the development of new ideas and strategies for improving patient care and outcomes, and perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements

To succeed in this critical role, you must have:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school
  • Active licensure as a veterinarian without contingencies in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date
  • Current DEA license and Controlled Substance License, if applicable, in the state where the hospital is located or ability to obtain by start date
  • USDA Category I (minimum) Accreditation or completion within two months of hire date
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, compassion, and the ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor during emotional and stressful situations
Work Environment

You will spend most of your time working in our modern and well-equipped veterinary hospital, surrounded by a talented team of professionals who share your passion for animal care. This role requires lifting up to 30 pounds, standing for long periods, and regular communication with clients and colleagues.

Benefits

Petco offers a competitive salary, ranging from $95,600.00 to $203,000.00 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
