Construction Project Engineer

Are you a recent college grad or have less than 4 years of experience in heavy civil construction? We have an exciting opportunity for you to work in conjunction with our Project Manager to safely and productively build the work on time and within budget. Our project is located in Fairfax County, VA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review contract documents, including plans and specifications, to understand the construction contract and notification requirements.

• Prepare submittals and RFI's, and schedule them based on the requirements of the specifications.

• Comply with quantities installed on a daily basis and verify with the inspector weekly.

• Prepare daily work reports, time sheets, and quantities, in collaboration with the superintendent, to include all pertinent information and describe all the work performed by NRC and subs.

• Manage subcontracts, purchase orders, material procurement, and review of invoices, perform takeoffs, research pricing, assist PM in vendor communications, track receipts and processing invoice expense codes in system.

• Prepare shop drawings/sketches in CAD as required to facilitate the work in the field, prepare traffic control plans under PM guidance and coordinate implementation as specified in the Contract.

• Obtain permits and mark-outs, prepare a master list of all permits required for the project, including descriptions, work restrictions, issue/expiration dates, inspections required, etc.

• Understand the basics of CPM scheduling, including predecessor/successor relationships and how the critical path is generated.

• Attend and participate in progress meetings and jobsite coordination meetings.

• Maintain red line sets of contract drawings reflecting actual work completed, coordinate with subcontractors to facilitate submittal of as-builts to Owner, prepare As Built Drawings for NRC work as necessary and submit to Owner.

Requirements:

• BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management

• Strong written and verbal communications skills, able to communicate with all levels of staff and management

• Strong analysis and critical thinking skills

• Deadline and detail-oriented

• Strong computer skills in Office 365, CAD, Microsoft Project or Primavera, Heavy Job, Viewpoint, Adobe Acrobat

• Must be willing to travel to jobsite

• 0-4 years' experience as a Construction Project Engineer
