The University of Arizona invites applications for the position of Histotechnologist II in the Tissue Acquisition and Cellular and Molecular Analysis Shared Resources (TACMASR) Core. As a Histotechnologist, you will be responsible for performing technical procedures and tasks supporting the day-to-day operations of the TACMASR core. In this position, we will provide the employee the chance to grow their skills in the field of histology and will offer the opportunity to obtain the HT (Histotechnician) Certification or the HTL (Histotechnologist) Certification.
Responsibilities
- Perform immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining using the Leica Bond platform.
- Perform histological procedures including accessioning, tissue processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining including special stains, and frozen tissue preparation, sectioning and H&E staining.
- Assist with research and development of new procedures and helps keep standard operating procedures and manuals current.
- Maintain and operate laboratory and histological equipment.
- Prepare reagents and solutions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited histotechnology program.
- Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) as HT (Histotechnician) or HTL (Histotechnologist), or ability to obtain this certification.
- Three (3) or more years of experience related to the job duties and research in histology and immunohistochemistry.
