Job Description and Duties

This is a critical role within the Department of Rehabilitation, requiring a highly skilled and dedicated individual to provide interpreting services for deaf and hard of hearing staff members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services for Rehabilitation Counselors for the Deaf (RCD) and other deaf or hard of hearing staff members.
  • Coordinate individual weekly schedules and maintain resource/training materials for individual development within the classification.
  • Report monthly activity to the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Services Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA).
Working Conditions:

Permanent Intermittent employees are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked per month will be no more than 30 hours/month.

Special Requirements:
  • The position requires fluency in the American Sign Language language. If the State of California does not have a current record documenting your fluency in this language, you will be required to successfully pass an approved language fluency test prior to being hired.
