Position Summary:
The role of the Sheet Metal Fabricator involves shaping and finishing metal sheets in accordance with specified designs. This position is ideal for individuals who are hands-on, meticulous, and capable of working independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure safety protocols are followed diligently, reporting any hazards to management.
  • Identify and execute optimal work processes to produce components that meet quality standards while minimizing costs.
  • Perform tasks such as cutting, sanding, tapping, countersinking, and shaping sheet metal.
  • Interpret both metric and imperial engineering drawings.
  • Inspect finished products for defects, ensuring they meet specifications.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments to guarantee the accuracy and quality of components.
  • Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and lead times through innovative manufacturing solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Conduct basic preventive maintenance on machinery.
  • Facilitate effective communication between shifts to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Adhere to all relevant laws, company policies, and quality standards applicable to the role.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • A two-year technical degree is highly preferred.
  • At least one year of relevant experience or equivalent educational background.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in sheet metal fabrication, or a combination of three years of education and experience in a related technical field.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering schematics and reports.
  • Self-driven with strong problem-solving capabilities and effective time management skills.
  • Proficient in both imperial and metric measurement systems.
  • Basic computer skills are necessary.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with laser cutting technology.
  • Background in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments.
