Overview:

Under general supervision, this role involves performing essential tasks related to the upkeep and cleanliness of facilities within a collegiate environment. The position encompasses both routine and specialized cleaning duties, event setup and breakdown, as well as furniture relocation. A focus on maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly environment is paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough cleaning of offices, classrooms, lecture halls, and various facilities including restrooms and residential areas.
  • Perform floor care duties such as scrubbing, refinishing, and operating cleaning machinery.
  • Manage waste disposal, recycling, and graffiti removal.
  • Assist in setting up and dismantling furniture for meetings and events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of supply areas and request necessary cleaning materials.
  • Execute minor repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Engage in emergency response activities when required.
  • Support the College's commitment to community principles and diversity in all job functions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and safe operational practices.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Willingness to wear uniforms and safety gear as required.

Educational Background:

High school diploma or equivalent experience is required, along with a minimum of two years in custodial or maintenance roles.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position with a standard schedule, though flexibility may be required based on departmental needs.

Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $17.50 to $18.50, determined by various factors including experience and qualifications.
