Job Summary:

This position plays a crucial role in facilitating the nutrition care process with a moderate degree of autonomy, utilizing experience-based knowledge, nutrition assessment, and diagnostic reasoning skills and competencies to provide high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Completes and documents specialized nutrition assessments to inform patient care decisions.

• Develops and implements effective nutrition interventions, including quality nutrition education, tailored to meet the unique needs and expectations of patients and customers.

• Monitors and evaluates individual patient nutrition outcomes related to nutrition diagnosis, goals, and interventions in the specialty area of sports nutrition.

• Collaborates with healthcare providers to communicate nutrition expertise and ensure comprehensive patient care.

• Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively in practice, prioritizing patient needs and outcomes.

• Mentors staff and students to promote knowledge sharing and skill development.

• Participates in departmental continuous quality improvement projects, strategic plans, and initiatives to drive excellence in patient care and service delivery.

• Works with a moderate degree of professional autonomy and independent practice, applying diagnostic reasoning skills to inform decision-making and drive patient outcomes.

• Applies research to improve patient outcomes and advance the field of sports nutrition.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a related field from an accredited institution.

• Registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

• Food handler's permit (as required by the facility).

• 2,000 hours of experience and credentialed specialty certification, such as CSG, CSO, CSSD, CNSC, CSP, CSR, CDE, or CSOWM.

• 4,000 hours of work experience in the specialty area of sports nutrition.

• Successful completion of an approved Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) program.

• Demonstrated computer proficiency.

• Certified Dietitian (State of Utah) or Licensed Dietitian (State of Idaho) obtained within two months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in dietetics, nutrition, or a specialty area from an accredited institution.

• 2+ years of experience in sports nutrition and the CSSD certification.

Physical Requirements:

• Interact with patients and colleagues, requiring verbal communication and understanding of spoken information.

• See and read labels, monitors, and documents.

• Operate computers and other equipment, requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.

• Remain sitting or standing for extended periods to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
