SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), operating as SJS Industrial, is actively seeking a qualified Industrial Hygienist to support safety operations within a healthcare environment.
As a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with a national presence and headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia, SJS specializes in delivering professional services to federal and military entities.
Compensation for this role ranges from $85,000 to $90,000. In addition, SJS provides 11 paid federal holidays, 80 hours of paid time off (PTO), comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with various other benefits. Relocation assistance is available for candidates residing outside the area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the organization's industrial hygiene initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations set forth by federal, state, and local authorities, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
- Conduct exposure assessments, adhere to sampling protocols, and analyze results and findings.
- Oversee and maintain the organization's confined space entry procedures.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive reports and health risk evaluations that clearly outline findings, workplace health risks, identified deficiencies, and recommended control measures for assigned tasks.
- Draft reports will be submitted to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for review and revisions prior to finalization. All documentation must be completed within a 14-day timeframe. Reports may include: Noise Assessments, OSHA Inspections & Training, Laser Safety Assessments, Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) evaluations, Confined Space Entry Reviews and Training, Lockout/Tagout procedures, Employee Air Monitoring as mandated by OSHA, Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Assessments, Portable Eyewash and Emergency Shower Evaluations, Health Risk Assessments, and assessments for Asbestos, Mold, and Lead-Based Paint.
- Documentation must identify, at a minimum, physical, chemical, and biological hazards present in the workplace, along with recommendations for engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to mitigate these hazards.
- Assist in report preparation, including the creation of detailed logs and data summary tables.
- Recommended control measures should maximize efficiency while minimizing costs to ensure compliance with Federal OSHA standards and reduce employee exposure and liability.
- The contractor will also aid in the development and implementation of PPE programs and the selection of appropriate PPE to safeguard employees and maintain compliance with current Federal OSHA regulations.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and local health and safety legislation.
- A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist in a healthcare setting.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Certification as a Safety Professional or prior experience as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager may be considered in lieu of Industrial Hygiene experience.
- Candidates must successfully pass a drug screening and a thorough background check for access to military installations; note that the background check will cover a period extending beyond 7 years, in accordance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for military installation work.
