Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Press Line Supervisor plays a crucial role in assisting the Shift Supervisor by ensuring that the press line team achieves or surpasses production targets and maintains quality standards. This role involves task delegation and team management to guarantee that all responsibilities are executed with precision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Press Line Supervisor in executing daily tasks and responsibilities assigned to press line operators.
  • Helps oversee team members, assigns responsibilities, and develops shift schedules as necessary.
  • Communicates mechanical concerns to the Shift Supervisor and the Maintenance team for timely repairs.
  • Operates forklifts to transport and organize finished products within the production and shipping areas.
  • Reviews daily assignments and production metrics with the Shift Supervisor at the conclusion of each shift.
  • Reports any operational issues encountered during the shift to the supervisor and management.
  • Coordinates team activities to ensure adherence to all operational processes and procedures.
  • Motivates the team to meet daily objectives and serves as a mentor to fellow team members.
  • Provides consistent feedback to the supervisor regarding team performance, highlighting areas for enhancement and suggesting strategies to improve productivity and quality.
  • Collaborates with other leads and supervisors to develop and implement process enhancements and best practices within the department.
  • Participates in onboarding and training new team members.

General Duties:

  • Works collaboratively with team members to ensure that production deadlines are met and products are delivered punctually.
  • Adheres to established safety protocols, procedures, and regulations, including the use of required safety gear.
  • Maintains a tidy and organized workspace.
  • Identifies and reports any quality or safety concerns to the supervisor or management.
  • Collaborates effectively with colleagues and supervisors, sharing knowledge and resources to achieve production goals while fostering respect and teamwork.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

Skills and Competencies:

  • Detail-oriented: Ability to execute tasks with accuracy and thoroughness, recognizing and correcting errors as necessary.
  • Basic arithmetic skills: Proficient in performing fundamental mathematical calculations and measurements.
  • Effective communication: Capable of conveying and receiving information clearly and professionally.
  • Reliability: Consistent attendance and punctuality, completing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Adherence to instructions: Ability to follow established procedures and guidelines meticulously.
  • Time management: Skilled in prioritizing tasks and organizing work to meet deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Leadership: Proficient in leading and organizing team efforts to achieve specific objectives within designated timeframes.
  • Proactive: Takes initiative, sets priorities, delegates tasks, and drives results while providing support and feedback to team members.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing setting.

  • Physical dexterity: Ability to bend, twist, and reach while handling tools and equipment. Must be able to stand, walk, and use hands for handling and feeling.

  • Vision: Requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Endurance: Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to elements: Work environment may involve exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions, as well as dust and other substances common in rubber material production.
  • Noise level: Moderate noise levels are present in the workplace due to the operation of forklifts and power tools.
