Work Year: 165 days
Reports To: School Principal
Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
All educators at Pueblo City Schools are expected to design, organize, and implement an engaging instructional program that fosters a dynamic learning environment, encouraging students to reach their academic potential. This role requires a commitment to expeditionary learning, which includes frequent fieldwork and diverse learning environments, both indoors and outdoors. Educators will perform instructional duties in alignment with district policies and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, parents, and students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Possess a valid Colorado Teaching License within 60 days of hire.
  • Be highly qualified through one of the following options:
    • Elementary Education Endorsement or
    • Eligibility for a Teacher in Residence or Alternative Licensing Program in the relevant area.
  • Willingness to adopt and teach within the philosophy and practices of expeditionary learning.
  • Completion of a fingerprint-based criminal background check, cleared by the Office of Human Resources.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both orally and in writing.
PREFERRED:
  • Experience in an expeditionary learning environment.
  • Prior experience as a certified educator.
  • Additional teaching endorsements in areas such as Early Literacy, CLDE, ESS, or other content-specific areas.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain discipline.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by building administrators.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position requires the ability to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for various tasks. Employees must be able to communicate effectively and engage in physical activities related to teaching.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The role primarily takes place in a school environment, with opportunities for outdoor teaching and fieldwork.
