Position Summary:
Flatiron Construction Corp is in search of a Construction Safety Advisor to join our Sacramento team. This pivotal role involves recognizing potential hazards on construction sites and offering assistance in mitigating these risks through established protocols. As a vital member of our dedicated department, you will contribute to the success of ongoing projects.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required.
- A Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline is preferred.
- Previous experience in the construction sector or a safety internship is advantageous.
- Ability to take responsibility for tasks assigned by your supervisor.
- Basic understanding of construction equipment, techniques, and procedures.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with interpersonal abilities.
- Developing expertise in hazard control and elimination through prescribed methods.
- A valid Driver's License is necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily site inspections to identify and document safety risks or inconsistencies. Monitor safety concerns regularly and propose strategies for hazard elimination as required.
- Assess and determine the safety equipment requirements for project activities. Engage in daily and weekly meetings to ensure all necessary equipment is ordered, stocked, and ready for upcoming tasks.
- Assist in the investigation and reporting of accidents, injuries, illnesses, fires, property damage, and other safety-related incidents to ensure prompt and compliant resolutions. Suggest improvements based on trend analysis.
- Collaborate closely with onsite teams to provide first aid and emergency assistance for any injuries or incidents. Ensure accurate documentation of worksite injuries and that offsite medical facilities address employee injuries promptly.
- Aid in the evaluation of subcontractors and their safety programs. Alert management to any noncompliance with safety procedures and participate in discussions for timely corrective actions.
- Stay informed about Flatiron's corporate values and strategic objectives.
- Uphold published corporate policies.
- Carry out additional tasks as directed by management.
