Job Summary
CNS Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist to join our team. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide psychiatric evaluations, evaluation and management services, care coordination, assessments, consultations, medication management, and follow-up appointments for children and adolescents with a variety of mental and behavioral healthcare needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations and provide direct clinical care to children and adolescents, including medication management and follow-up appointments.
- Assess and diagnose mental health conditions according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders.
- Consult with caregivers, parents, guardians, and other professionals to coordinate care and provide individualized recommendations for treatment.
- Coordinate integrated care with internal and external providers of mental health, physical health, and substance use disorders.
- Order and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests as clinically appropriate.
- Prescribe psychotropic medications and provide medication monitoring.
- Recommend and encourage the use of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for tobacco, alcohol, and opioid use disorders.
- Provide education on chronic health conditions, disease process, healthy lifestyle management, vaccinations, and medication management.
- Participate in case reviews, recommend treatment approaches, and contribute to the establishment of psychiatric programs and policies.
- Engage in publication opportunities and testify in judicial proceedings as needed.
Requirements
- Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited School of Medicine.
- Completion of a residency in Psychiatry and fellowship in Child/Adolescent Psychiatry.
- Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP) credential within 90 days of employment.
- Active board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- Current, unrestricted State of Michigan license to practice as a medical doctor.
- Valid and unrestricted Michigan controlled substance license.
- Controlled Substance Registration Certificate from the DEA.
- DATA 2000 Waiver to treat opioid use disorders from the DEA.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Prior clinical experience and demonstrated proficiency in medical management, crisis, and behavior management techniques for children and adolescents.
- Knowledge and experience with interventions used to treat psychiatric, substance use, intellectual, and developmental disabilities and diagnoses.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology used in a mental health setting.
- Experience with the application of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in health care organizations.
- Proficient with computers, Microsoft office products, and electronic health records (EHRs).
- Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team, communicate effectively, and build positive working relationships.
- Ability to use discretion and judgment when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature.
- Advanced time management, problem-solving, customer service, interpersonal, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention skills.
- Ability to be forward-thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the department.
- Ability to contribute to an inclusive environment that recognizes the value and contributions of all persons.
- Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver's License.
- Reliable transportation and current proof of auto insurance.
