Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Mid to Senior Level Hydraulic and Hydrologic Engineer to join our team. This role will be based in our Baton Rouge office and will involve working within the Water Resources Group. The selected candidate will engage in the development of surface water hydraulic, hydrologic, and hydrodynamic modeling, while also performing engineering calculations to address challenges related to surface water and drainage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical projects and supervise junior engineering staff on initiatives involving surface water hydrology & hydraulics, flood risk management, and coastal restoration.
- Conduct numerical modeling to support stormwater and drainage improvement projects.
- Execute 1D and 2D riverine hydraulic modeling.
- Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates to support final bid packages.
- Participate in design discussions and meetings with project teams, subcontractors, and client managers.
- Contribute to project decisions regarding technical methodologies, feasibility, costs, construction strategies, and scheduling.
- Generate written and graphic reports and deliver presentations to stakeholders.
- Draft various documents, including reports and technical memoranda.
- Innovatively resolve a wide range of engineering challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering is required.
- A Master's Degree in Water Resources or Coastal Engineering is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Louisiana or the ability to obtain it through reciprocity within six months of hire is required.
- A minimum of 8 years of industry experience in Water Resources and/or Coastal Engineering is essential.
- Experience with engineering analysis and design across various project types, including:
- Floodplain mapping and management.
- FEMA Floodplain Regulations and Standards.
- Stormwater hydrology and hydraulic modeling; permitting and design of stormwater and drainage infrastructure.
- Watershed assessment and planning.
- Urban flood risk and management.
- Flood protection and resilience strategies.
- Low impact development and green infrastructure.
- Preparation of project scope and fee proposals.
- Construction principles, including surveying and engineering methods.
- Ability to foster effective working relationships with team members and project managers.
- Proficiency in relevant software programs, including:
- HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS.
- SWMM/XPSWMM/PCSWMM.
- Inforworks ICM.
- ESRI GIS.
- AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Broad expertise or unique knowledge that contributes to the achievement of company objectives in innovative and effective ways.
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete a pre-employment background check.
Physical Requirements:
The majority of work will be office-based, with occasional site visits that may require navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
