Systems Development Engineer, Design Technologies

Key Responsibilities- Design and develop systems that support the research, development, and design teams at Amazon.
- Coordinate with researchers and engineers to build and support the infrastructure they need.
- Work with vendors to evaluate, purchase, deploy, and support mission-critical tools.
- Customize and integrate third-party software to meet Amazon's needs.
- Improve existing infrastructure to ensure it continues to meet Amazon's high bar for operational excellence.
- 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering experience.
- 2+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
- 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting large-scale infrastructure.
- Experience utilizing AWS cloud solutions in a DevOps environment.
- Experience building services using AWS products.
- Experience with Linux/Unix.
- Experience with networking fundamentals including hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc.
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems).
- 2+ Years of experience managing one or more CAE/FEA tools such as Ansys, Abaqus, CST, LS-Dyna, Comsol, Matlab.
- 2+ Years of experience managing one or more schedulers such as PBS/OpenPBS, Slurm, IBM LSF.
- 2+ Years troubleshooting Simulation Job issues in AWS.
- 2+ Years of managing license servers such as FlexLM based servers.
- Experience working in a high pace DevOps environment.
- Experience with distributed systems at scale.
- Knowledge of database systems and SQL.
- Knowledge of a front-end language (Javascript, CSS, HTML, etc.).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
