Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Attorney Advisor to join our team at the Department of Justice. As an Attorney Advisor, you will play a critical role in providing legal counsel and guidance to senior officials on complex immigration law and policy matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to senior officials on complex immigration law and policy matters
  • Develop and implement litigation strategies to ensure the fair and impartial administration of justice
  • Research and analyze federal statutes, including the Immigration and Nationality Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, and the U.S. Constitution
  • Prepare and present oral and written legal opinions and analysis to senior officials and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other components within the Department of Justice to address legal issues and develop policy recommendations
Requirements
  • Must possess an LL.B., LL.M., or J.D. degree from an accredited institution
  • Must be an active member of the bar, duly licensed and authorized to practice law as an attorney under the laws of any state, territory of the U.S., or the District of Columbia
  • Must have at least three (3) full years (36 months) of post-J.D. professional legal experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with federal litigation, including drafting complex legal pleadings and coordinating discovery
  • Experience providing legal counsel on complex legal issues affecting agency operations and legal compliance
  • Experience working with other government offices to achieve positive outcomes in litigation, policy, and operational matters
