Seasonal Retail Sales Representative

The Rhode Island School of Design Store is seeking seasonal retail sales representatives to assist students and customers. The work schedule consists of 25-35 hours per week, with a flexible availability required, including weekends.

The mission of the RISD Store is to foster the creative endeavors of our students and patrons through a unique and inspiring shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver exceptional customer service by assisting customers and addressing product inquiries in a friendly and knowledgeable manner.
- Accurately process transactions using a cash register, handling payments and providing change.
- Maintain well-stocked work areas by retrieving merchandise from the storeroom as needed.
- Label and price merchandise, ensuring proper organization on shelves.
- Keep workspaces clean and organized, including shelves, counters, and tables.
- Prepare materials by pre-cutting as required.
Please note that temporary sales associates will receive cross-training in various RISD Retail departments to provide comprehensive support as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required.
- Previous retail experience is preferred, along with strong communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of individuals.
- Willingness to cross-train in other departments.
Preferred Skills:
- Background in art and design is advantageous, with knowledge of art supplies and contemporary art history.
- Familiarity with computer systems is preferred.
Work Schedule:
25-35 hours per week, with potential evening and weekend shifts. Specific schedules will be discussed during the interview process.
