Job Summary:
The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) is on the lookout for a dedicated Aviation Electronics Specialist. This role is ideal for individuals who possess a strong aptitude for installing and maintaining intricate electronic systems essential for aviation navigation and meteorological reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize schematic diagrams, maintenance manuals, and technical publications to operate, modify, and repair complex electronic systems necessary for aviation navigation and weather reporting.
- Conduct installation, preventive maintenance inspections, and troubleshooting of electronic equipment.
- Acquire necessary training and certifications for navigational aids including VHF Omnidirectional Radio Range (VOR), Nondirectional Radio Beacon (NDB), Distance Measuring Equipment (DME), and Automated Weather Observation Systems (AWOS).
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- For Electronic Specialist/Aviation Aids: Associate's degree in electronics or two years of relevant experience. Must obtain a General Radiotelephone Operator License within three months of employment.
- For Electronic Specialist Senior/Aviation Aids: Associate's degree in electronics with experience in navigational aid equipment. Additional years of experience may substitute for educational requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in electronics.
- Strong mathematical skills and an FCC General Radio Telephone operator's license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficient in electronic repair methods and practices.
- Understanding of FCC regulations and air navigation principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic systems effectively.
