About the Role

The State of Nebraska is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team as Nebraska State Patrol Officer Candidates. Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in a comprehensive training program to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a successful law enforcement officer.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with diverse populations, including community members, law enforcement partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve shared goals and objectives, while maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest laws, policies, and procedures related to law enforcement, and apply this knowledge in a practical and effective manner.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge, and stay current with best practices in law enforcement.
Requirements
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be proficient in English, as demonstrated by a passing score on the TABE test.
  • Meet the physical fitness requirements for the position, as determined by the Initial Physical Abilities Test.
  • Pass a background check, including a review of criminal and traffic violations, and a personnel history questionnaire.
  • Pass a polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, and medical exam.
  • Be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Be able to perceive and interpret information accurately, including color differences and verbal and radio communications.
  • Be able to engage with diverse populations, including individuals from various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds.
  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision, and be self-motivated and capable of taking initiative.
