Rail Operations Supervisor Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Rail Operations Supervisor to join our team at Ports America. This is a key role that will oversee the smooth and efficient operation of our rail terminal, ensuring timely movement of containers and excellent customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with PNCT Marine Terminal and Dock Rail Yard teams to optimize equipment utilization and container movement.
  • Manage train movements, including arrivals and departures from the rail yard, to minimize delays and maximize productivity.
  • Communicate effectively with local CSX personnel on scheduling, traffic, and other matters to ensure seamless operations.
  • Distribute labor resources efficiently to maximize use throughout the shift.
  • Presentation of daily labor reports for payroll purposes.
  • Resolve customer issues related to container movement, holds, and inspections in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in operations, logistics, or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of terminal operations experience, with 1 year in rail/yard operations preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card from the Department of Homeland Security.
  • High-level planning and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Effective communication with union and management staff to ensure smooth operations.
  • Exceptional time management skills to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, to analyze data and generate reports.
  • Familiarity with intermodal transportation concepts, operations, and equipment to make informed decisions.
Work Environment:
  • Varying hours and shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate business needs.
  • Ability to climb stairs and equipment, and work on a ship and in a yard, as required.
  • Physical ability to work in a hazardous environment with fast-moving heavy equipment.
Estimated Salary Range:

$70,000 - $90,000 per annum, depending on experience.
