Position Overview
ROLE SUMMARY
The Finance Operations Manager will support the Controller in managing the financial activities of the organization. This position involves leading the accounting team, ensuring precise and timely financial reporting, upholding internal controls, and aligning financial management with the organization's mission. The Finance Operations Manager will collaborate with various departments to deliver financial insights that aid in decision-making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Oversight
- Supervise daily financial operations of the organization.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports for board and management, ensuring accuracy for Controller approval.
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in creating the annual budget and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and report variances.
- Provide financial analysis to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to all financial regulations and standards.
- Develop and implement internal control policies and procedures.
- Lead the coordination and preparation for annual external audits.
- Guide and mentor the accounting team, offering support and direction.
- Conduct performance evaluations and identify opportunities for professional development.
- Promote a collaborative and positive work environment.
- Oversee and report on grants and donor contributions.
- Ensure accurate tracking and reporting of restricted funds.
- Assist with grant applications and financial reporting obligations.
- Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support.
- Assist fundraising efforts with relevant financial information and analysis.
- Participate in organizational meetings and contribute to strategic planning initiatives.
This role will involve close interaction with various stakeholders, including employees, volunteers, donors, and partner representatives.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. An MBA or CPA certification is preferred. A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity, is essential.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience in non-profit accounting is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics 365 (CERES) is preferred.
- Competence in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Pro.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Must possess reliable transportation and maintain a valid driver's license, along with a satisfactory driving record and proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage.

- Work in an office environment adjacent to a warehouse, with occasional travel to various locations.

- Work in a generally quiet office setting, with occasional noise from machinery and large trucks.

COMPENSATION AND HOURS
$100,000 to $120,000
Hybrid work schedule; 2 days in the office, 3 days remote, with occasional travel and potential evening or weekend work.
