Role Purpose:
- Draft and prepare all necessary documentation for the filing and prosecution of U.S., International, and foreign patent applications.
- File documents with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, utilizing electronic and certification procedures.
- Independently create all correspondence during the prosecution of patent applications for attorney review.
- Assist with special projects and additional assignments as requested by attorneys and agents.
- Provide backup support for docketing within the docket database.
- Actively contribute to the paralegal team with a focus on quality, collaboration, accountability, and adaptability.
- Bachelor's Degree and/or Paralegal Certification or equivalent significant experience in a related field.
- 3 - 5 years of relevant experience with a stable work history is essential.
- Experience in patent prosecution is required.
- Familiarity with docket administration is preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
- Must be analytical, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently while exercising sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner is critical.
- Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
- Collaborate with attorneys, agents, and inventors to ensure timely and appropriate filing of patent applications and responses worldwide.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion while managing a demanding caseload.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to quickly identify issues, propose solutions, and implement action plans.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Familiarity with patent procurement, prosecution, maintenance, and files.
- Strong time management and project management skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks under time constraints.
- Strong computing skills using MS Office products.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
- A minimum of 2 years in the current position is required for internal applicants.
