About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Casting Shop Operations Manager to join our team at Gerdau. As a key member of our melt shop production team, you will be responsible for overseeing the casting side of our production area, including the mold shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
  • Display a high level of proactivity, determination, and discipline, as well as working in a highly connected team environment.
  • Assist in the overall growth and development of the Melt Shop Team and work with other areas to ensure consistency and long-term success.
  • Promote a culture of ownership, engagement, teamwork, and innovation to drive continuous improvement, always leading by example.
  • Serve as a resource for the operating crews and establish expectations, develop best practices for the area, and ensure consistency.
  • Select, train, evaluate, discipline, and engage personnel.
  • Advise and instruct shift supervisors and hourly employees on objectives or issues regarding schedules, methods, standards, materials, quality, shipping, equipment, tooling, safety, cost, discipline, personnel policies, testing/trials, environmental practices and procedures, or other matters affecting area of responsibility.
  • Responsible for several performance KPI's and conduct crew meetings and planned general inspections.
  • Ensure training and implementation of Quality Airplane methodology and quality tools in the decision-making process.
  • Establish work schedules for the melting side.
Requirements
  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Technical, or related degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of melt shop experience required and preferred casting experience.
  • Exposure to standardization and production quality methods in a leadership role.
  • Previous experience in a leadership position required and the ability to train people and serve as a coach to employees.
  • Must possess good communication skills, have the ability to articulate ideas, give feedback, resolve conflicts, and point out areas where improvement is needed, as well as the ability to develop a positive relationship with employees in order to develop credibility.
  • Must be results-oriented and have the ability to motivate others.
