Position Overview:
Provides nursing assistance to the physician and delivers direct nursing care to patients in an outpatient environment. Acts as the primary medical contact to assess patients.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:
  • Current, unencumbered licensure with the appropriate state board as a practical nurse, or current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of hire.


Core Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties outline the general nature of work performed by individuals in this position. This list is not exhaustive and other responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Delivers direct nursing care to patients in an outpatient medical office setting.
  • Utilizes established standards of care and practice to guide the delivery of care.
  • Safely administers medications via intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral routes as prescribed.
  • Consults with the Provider or Registered Nurse for guidance in nursing care delivery as needed.
  • Seeks instruction and supervision from the Provider or Registered Nurse when implementing nursing techniques.
  • Performs designated therapeutic procedures for patients as required.
  • Accurately observes, records, and reports all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress to the Provider in a timely manner.
  • Assists Providers and Registered Nurses with examinations and procedures as assigned.
  • Utilizes supplies efficiently to help manage patient costs.
  • Provides emotional support to patients and their families.
  • Engages in problem-solving and decision-making within the outpatient unit to ensure staffing and patient needs are met.
  • Collects medical information from patients, including vital signs and health data, and communicates findings to the physician.
  • Collaborates closely with office staff and physicians to facilitate patient visits, ensuring availability of patient charts and assisting with scheduling as necessary.

Heavy/Hard Work:

This role requires strength and stamina, including lifting, moving, stooping, reaching, and positioning patients, as well as standing and walking. The carrying of patients, materials, and equipment weighing over 40 lbs. is performed daily.
