Job Overview

Pride Health is seeking a dedicated Laboratory Support Specialist to assist in the operations of our client's medical facility. This role is essential for ensuring the efficient functioning of laboratory processes and supporting the healthcare team.

Position Details

Location: Indianapolis, IN
Duration: 6 Months+
Schedule: 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM, Monday to Friday with rotating weekends and holidays. Weekend-only shifts are also available.

Compensation: $19 - $20 per hour, commensurate with experience and educational background.

Key Responsibilities
  • Specimen Management: Efficiently sort, receive, and manage laboratory specimens. Prepare specimens for testing, ensuring accuracy in worklists and aliquoting.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine checks and maintenance on laboratory instruments to ensure optimal performance.
  • Laboratory Operations: Perform essential tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing labels, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Reagent Preparation: Prepare necessary reagents and media for various testing procedures.
  • Quality Assurance: Engage in QA/QC activities, resolve pending issues, and track down missing samples.
  • Safety Compliance: Uphold safety standards by decontaminating work areas and managing biohazardous waste appropriately.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain organized files for departmental records and manage gas cylinder changes as required.
  • Computer Proficiency: Utilize laboratory computer systems for data entry and reporting purposes.
  • Training: Complete necessary training and competency evaluations as part of the role.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Medical assistant training is advantageous. Background in math and science is preferred.

Experience: No prior experience is necessary as training will be provided.
