Salary: $19.85 per hour / Additional Differentials Must Qualify

Shift Requirements: Must be available for swing, overnight, and weekend shifts.

About the Role:
As a Peer Support Counselor at Redwood Community Services, you will engage directly with individuals facing homelessness. This role is situated within a collaborative resource center aimed at providing essential housing services and safe shelter for those in crisis. Our organization emphasizes a low-barrier approach, ensuring accessibility to services and resources.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting individuals and families in accessing shelter, laundry, and shower facilities, as well as housing resources.
- Engaging with guests to discuss their housing aspirations and goals.
- Contributing to a safe, stable, and supportive environment.
This position demands a compassionate and accepting attitude towards individuals experiencing trauma, as well as the ability to maintain high-quality customer service while collaborating with diverse teams and community partners.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- At least one year of experience in homelessness services, social services, hospitality, mental health, or related fields.
- Preferred: Lived experience with homelessness (must no longer be receiving services).
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
Other Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years old.
Training:
- Preferred training in harm reduction, Housing First, trauma-informed care, and low-barrier service models.
- Comprehensive onboarding and training will be provided, including CPR/First Aid, Crisis Communication, Trauma-Informed Care, and more.
Conditions of Employment:
This position may involve working across various agency programs as needed, with occasional flexibility in scheduling to meet client needs.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Valid CA Driver's License, current auto insurance, and clean DMV record.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- TB test and physical examination at the time of employment.
- A background check will be conducted for selected candidates.
