Job Summary:

The Research Foundation CUNY is seeking a Counselor to join our Upward Bound Program team. As a Counselor, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic and personal growth of our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promote and recruit participants at target schools and community meetings.
  • Enroll eligible participants, obtain academic records, and assess financial eligibility for the program.
  • Develop and implement individualized academic plans for students based on their needs.
  • Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate with school liaisons and parents.
  • Schedule tutoring and counseling sessions with participants.
  • Assist in organizing college visits, cultural activities, and workshops.
  • Contribute to the preparation of the Annual Performance Report and support the day-to-day operation of the summer residential component.
Requirements:
  • Familiarity with the target area and the NYC Public School System.
  • Experience working with at-risk students and understanding of the Student Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling multiple demands efficiently and making professional programmatic decisions.
  • Ability to work on Saturdays and possess a B.A./B.S. in Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Bilingual skills in English, Spanish, Chinese, or other languages are a plus.

The Research Foundation CUNY offers a competitive salary range of $50,000 to $53,300, as well as a comprehensive benefits package and accruals.
