Role Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and delivering exceptional, patient-focused respiratory care in alignment with departmental requirements and established practice standards. As an integral member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist conducts various diagnostic assessments and therapeutic interventions while monitoring patients on both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and document thorough patient assessments, including breath sounds and airway conditions.
  • Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen delivery and aerosol treatments.
  • Assist in the placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient responses to therapies and communicate with providers regarding any necessary interventions.
  • Support the transportation of patients requiring ventilatory assistance.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, ensuring airway management and ventilation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Certificate
  • State Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician or Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification to be obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT) or Licensed Certified Respiratory Therapist (LCRT) or RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT/RCP)
