Job Summary

Under the direction of a senior engineer, performs a variety of engineering tasks in planning, design, and construction of transportation projects. Coordinates with project teams, government agencies, and external vendors to achieve project goals.

Responsibilities
  • Assumes primary responsibility over assigned projects and tasks.
  • Coordinates with project team, government agencies, utility companies, residents, businesses, industry professionals, and external vendors to achieve project goals.
  • Performs mathematical calculations in engineering tasks.
  • Reads and interprets contract plans and specifications.
  • Handles multiple routine assignments.
  • Assumes responsibility for completeness and accuracy of assigned projects.
  • Exercises judgment and initiative in applying engineering principles to projects.
  • Works both independently or in a team environment.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Construction or Electrical Engineering.
  • One (1) year of full-time work experience in civil, construction or electrical engineering.
  • Acceptance of the applicant for the Illinois Engineer Intern Examination with documented evidence from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation at time of application.
  • Valid driver's license.
