Job Overview

As a key member of our Mother's Market & Kitchen team, the Kitchen/Deli Prep plays a vital role in ensuring the highest quality food products are prepared and served to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare recipes for our established menu by reviewing the Daily Prep List at the start of each shift.
  • Ensure the freshness and quality of prepared food by adhering to strict health and safety protocols.
  • Prepare soups, corn bread, biscuits, and refill as needed to maintain a consistent supply.
  • Properly store leftover food to prevent waste and maintain a clean environment.
  • Monitor food temperatures at specified intervals to ensure food safety.
  • Fill the cold line with prepared vegetables and refill as needed to meet customer demand.
  • Provide coverage for cooks during 10-minute breaks and lunch breaks as needed to maintain a smooth operation.
  • Promptly report equipment and food quality issues to a manager to ensure prompt resolution.
  • Inform managers immediately of product shortages to prevent delays.
  • Adhere to Mother's safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Keep all work areas clean and observe Health Department Regulations to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings to stay informed and engaged.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to ensure a positive experience for our customers.

Qualification Guidelines:

Any combination of equivalent to, but not limited to, the following:

  • Some experience and/or training in the preparation and serving of hot and/or cold food in a commercial food service setting.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques used for cold and hot food preparation.
  • Health codes applicable to food service.
  • Proper food storage, rotation, and cleaning techniques.
  • Use of commercial kitchen equipment.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Push, carry, and lift large equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds; up to 100 times.
  • Use carts and dollies to carry product from coolers to work stations.
  • Bend, stoop, and kneel to retrieve food preparation items.
  • Extend arms overhead and reach for products and boxes.
  • Work both inside and outside in wet and/or dry, hot and/or cold conditions.
  • Perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comply with health code requirements.

Special Requirements:

  • Must be available to work various shifts as needed.
