Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Lead Machinist to join our team in a prototype, development, and production support machine shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, operating, and troubleshooting multi-axis NC and manual milling and turning equipment. This includes developing work holding methodology, selecting tooling and the appropriate machine for the job, and creating setup sheets for the machinists.
Responsibilities- Develop NC programs based on engineering definition (CAD model, hand sketch, general description of the problem). Select appropriate cutters, speeds, feeds, depth of cut parameters. Load program, machine part & setup and verify accuracy of work when complete.
- Must be able to operate all equipment in the Lab Machine Shop.
- Experience machining a variety of materials – plastics/ composites/ aluminum/ carbon steel/ stainless steel/ titanium/ Inconel.
- Typical workload is low volume, one-off projects.
- HS Diploma/GED Equivalent. Technical degree, vocational training, or a minimum of (15) years Industry and (10) years of relevant experience.
- Work independently using drawings, process instructions, test plans or other written specifications to perform job duties.
- Under direction of Team leaders, assist with executing/ communicating all technical, schedule, cost, quality, and safety requirements.
- Provide technical expertise to internal and external customers.
- Lead and train other machinists in performing higher complexity job assignments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience using productivity tools; word, excel, PowerPoint.
