Position Overview

The Assistant Men's Soccer Coach will work under the direct supervision of the head coach, contributing to the overall success of the varsity men's soccer program at American University. This role involves providing coaching support to student-athletes during practices and competitive events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the performance and development of men's soccer student-athletes.
  • Assist in executing practice plans as established by the head coach.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to assess athlete progress and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Facilitate individual and small group training sessions as requested by student-athletes.
  • Attend all practices and games to provide support and guidance.
  • Assist with administrative duties, including team travel arrangements, meal planning, video analysis, data collection, and equipment organization.
  • Support recruitment efforts to attract qualified and talented student-athletes.
  • Evaluate potential recruits through in-person assessments and feedback from high school coaches.
  • Maintain organized recruiting records and provide updates to the head coach regarding recruitment status.
  • Report any significant concerns related to recruitment to the head coach.

Compensation:

  • Hourly wage ranging from $21.00 to $22.86.

Work Schedule:

  • Expected to work approximately 15 hours per week.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-3 years of relevant coaching or playing experience preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Some travel may be necessary.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience includes 1-2 years of coaching or collegiate/professional soccer playing experience.
