Job Summary

The State of California is seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist, Correctional Facility to join our team. As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs for patients within California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation institutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for patients, including individual and group recreation therapy sessions.
  • Monitor and document treatment progress, and work with other healthcare providers to share recreational therapy assessment information and incorporate therapeutic recreational activities into treatment plans.
  • Maintain order and supervise the conduct of patients to protect and maintain the safety of persons and property.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support for patients.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with major work in recreation or recreation therapy, including supervised field work.
  • Current certification or eligibility for certification as a recreation therapist by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification or by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc.
