Job Description

Accounting Internship Opportunity

We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our Accounting Internship program at Principal Financial Group. As an Accounting Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, accounting, and business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports and tax returns
  • Participate in the financial statement close process
  • Test and document internal controls for SOX compliance
  • Analyze financial data and identify trends and variances
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Support various business projects

Requirements:

  • Working towards or have a bachelor's or graduate level degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • For Spring/Fall Co-Op Interns: minimum of 6 or more hours of accounting or finance major coursework completed by the start of the internship
  • For Summer Interns: minimum of 12 or more hours of accounting major coursework completed by the start of the internship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to solve problems using technology, such as Excel, query language (SQL, SAS), Power BI, etc.
  • Meaningful involvement with community or school organizations and/or through work experience

  • A competitive salary range of $24 - $24 per hour

Work Environment:

This role offers in-office and hybrid work arrangements between May-August. Remote work arrangements available during school year (January-May for Spring Co-Op or August-December for Fall Co-Op).
