Pacific Ridge School is seeking a dedicated and experienced coach to join our Ice Hockey program. As Assistant Coach of DIII Ice Hockey, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our student-athletes, develop their skills, and contribute to the growth and success of our program.

Job Summary:

This position involves teaching, coaching, advising, supervising, and caring for student-athletes. You will work in partnership with the Head Coach to ensure alignment with the direction and philosophy of the Hockey program.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Head Coach of the US DIII Ice Hockey Team during the Fall & Winter seasons.
  2. Work collaboratively with the Head Coach to fulfill coaching duties as assigned.
  3. Emphasize the School's athletic philosophy while helping students develop their understanding of core values.
  4. Strive for competitive excellence while growing and building the Ice Hockey culture in our community.
  5. Teach players on the ice, focusing on skills, techniques, rules, regulations, and team policies of Ice Hockey.
  6. Ensure compliance with rules and regulations, and provide attention to students-athletes who are injured or ill.
  7. Partner with the Athletic Trainer to provide medical and physical training services to student-athletes.
  8. Implement safety measures when conducting team activities.
  9. Be responsible for the actions and conduct of the team under your supervision.
  10. Collaborate with the DIII Head Coach on selecting and scheduling team contests as needed.
  11. Coordinate activities in preparation for scheduled competition.
  12. Attend team practices, home and away contests, and relevant meetings.
  13. Understand and uphold guidelines in the coaching manual and parent/athlete handbook.
  14. Support the Director of Athletics in various activities and events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher preferred.
  • 3+ years of ice hockey coaching experience preferred.
  • Collegiate level athlete or higher preferred.
  • Current involvement in coaching club ice hockey preferred.

Preferred Skills:

  • A strong candidate will be extremely organized and able to multitask and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude in all situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with effective communication with all school constituents.

Schedule:

The estimated hourly rate for this position is $17 per hour, with an estimated total earning potential of $5,000 based on a minimum of 3 hours of practice per week, weekly games, and some tournaments, including local and travel opportunities.
