Restorative Certified Nursing Assistant

Position Type: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Nursing, this role is dedicated to delivering high-quality, professional restorative nursing care and medical supervision to residents at St. John's. The position involves executing routine, non-treatment tasks that are predetermined for each resident by the restorative therapy program, aimed at enhancing muscle strength, facilitating mobility, promoting independence, and preventing functional decline.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Restorative Nursing Care: Provide restorative and rehabilitative care to residents as outlined in their care plans.
- Assist residents with exercises (Active/Passive Range of Motion) to improve or sustain mobility and independence.
- Deliver routine restorative services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, under the guidance of licensed nursing staff and therapists.
- Perform all duties associated with the Certified Nursing Assistant role.
- Support the transfer and transportation of residents as necessary.
- Prepare residents, treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for therapy sessions.
- Monitor the use and condition of adaptive equipment and arrange for repairs or replacements as needed.
- Maintain therapy areas and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
- Ensure adequate supplies for treatments are available.
- Adjust restorative schedules based on resident needs.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
LEADERSHIP:
- Educate and mentor staff on restorative practices.
- Contribute to the interdisciplinary care plan development.
- Act as a resource and role model for fellow CNAs.
- Participate in restorative meetings and care plan discussions.
- Assist in the development of processes and quality improvement initiatives.
COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING:
- Maintain accurate records in accordance with St. John's policies and state regulations.
- Document care provided in the appropriate systems.
- Notify the Charge Nurse of any issues or necessary reassessments.
- Report any adverse conditions experienced by residents during restorative care.
- Maintain confidentiality to protect resident information and facility operations.
DINING SERVICES:
- Assist during mealtimes by serving coffee and welcoming residents and guests.
- Perform additional duties to ensure a pleasant dining atmosphere.
SAFETY:
- Adhere to St. John's safety protocols.
- Identify and report safety hazards.
- Utilize proper body mechanics when assisting residents.
- Follow established procedures when handling biohazard materials.
- Use safety equipment and supplies as required.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
- Engage with the Eden Alternative philosophy to foster a nurturing environment.
- Follow guidelines for exemplary customer service.
EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comply with policies regarding health screenings and vaccinations.
- Attend mandatory training sessions.
- Participate in ongoing educational opportunities to maintain competencies.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid CNA license in Montana. Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is preferred. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience is desired. Completion of formal restorative aid training is required within 60 days of hire.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, along with prolonged periods of standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and bending.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The role involves exposure to various environmental factors typical of a healthcare setting, including potential hazards and the presence of plants and animals.
