Job Overview

Position Type: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

SUMMARY:

Under the general oversight of the Nursing Director, this role is dedicated to delivering high-quality, professional restorative nursing care and medical supervision to residents at St. John's. The position involves executing routine, non-treatment tasks predetermined for each resident by the restorative therapy program, aimed at enhancing muscle strength, facilitating mobility, promoting autonomy, and preventing functional decline.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Restorative Nursing Care: Provide rehabilitative care to residents as outlined in their care plans.
  • Assist residents with exercises (Active/Passive Range of Motion) to enhance or sustain mobility and independence.
  • Deliver routine restorative services in accordance with residents' assessments and care plans, as established by licensed nursing staff.
  • Carry out all duties associated with the Certified Nursing Assistant role.
  • Support the transfer and transportation of residents as required.
  • Prepare residents, treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for therapy sessions.
  • Monitor the use and condition of adaptive equipment and arrange for repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe therapy environment and ensure adequate supplies for treatments.
  • Adjust restorative schedules based on resident needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

LEADERSHIP:

  • Provide coaching and education on restorative practices to staff.
  • Contribute to the interdisciplinary care plan development.
  • Act as a resource and role model for fellow CNAs.
  • Participate in restorative meetings and care plan discussions.
  • Assist in developing processes and quality improvement initiatives.

COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING:

  • Maintain accurate records as per St. John's policies and state regulations.
  • Document care provided in the appropriate systems.
  • Inform the Charge Nurse of any issues or necessary referrals.
  • Report any adverse conditions experienced by residents during restorative care.
  • Uphold confidentiality and protect facility operations.

DINING SERVICES:

  • Assist during mealtimes by serving coffee and welcoming residents and guests.
  • Perform other duties to ensure a pleasant dining atmosphere.

SAFETY:

  • Adhere to safety protocols established by St. John's.
  • Identify and report safety hazards.
  • Utilize proper body mechanics when assisting residents.
  • Follow established procedures when handling biohazard materials.
  • Use safety equipment and supplies as required.

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

  • Support the Eden Alternative philosophy, fostering a work environment with plants and animals.
  • Adhere to St. John's customer service guidelines, including:
    • Letting the mission guide your actions.
    • Making eye contact and smiling.

EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with policies regarding annual TB testing and vaccinations.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must be licensed as a CNA in the State of Montana. Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is preferred. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience is desired. Completion of formal restorative aid training is required within 60 days of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position requires moderate physical activity, including lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally, standing, pushing, pulling, walking, and bending for extended periods.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, and loud noises may occur. There is a risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens, necessitating adherence to safety precautions. The work environment is typical of healthcare settings, with potential exposure to plants and animals.
