Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for producing high-quality images for medical interpretation and working closely with physicians to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Educate and prepare patients for procedures by reviewing medical history, draping and positioning the patient, preparing procedural/testing sites and administering contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice
  • Assist physician with performing diagnostic and therapeutic vascular interventional procedures
  • Analyze results and take appropriate action to resolve image quality issues
  • Educate patient regarding procedures, equipment, and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation
  • Assist with monitoring patient condition continually and report/respond to changes in status as appropriate
  • Implement safety standards and perform appropriate quality control procedures on equipment
  • Troubleshoot, resolve, and/or report equipment malfunctions as necessary and keep coworkers informed of status
  • Responsible for daily work assignments
  • Serve in an active role in maintaining ACR accreditation and various JCAHO, FDA, ODH inspections
  • Assist in interviewing, selection, and orientation/training of new staff members
  • Ensure proper staff education requirements
  • Actively involved in the discipline process when necessary, particularly verbal and written counseling
  • Maintain knowledge and skills to perform duties
  • Keep rooms stocked and equipment cleaned according to department standards
  • Perform other duties as required or directed
Requirements
  • High School, GED or formal educational equivalent
  • Graduate of a Radiological Technology program
  • New graduate or less than 1 year experience
  • Registry eligible or Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • Arkansas Radiologic Technologist License must be obtained prior to start date
  • IR Advanced Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist within 12 months from date of hire
  • Ability to Follow Oral Instruction, Read and Write
Preferred Qualifications
  • Baccalaureate Degree
  • One or more years of experience IR Advanced Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist
