Position Overview:
The Clinical Pharmacist will be responsible for evaluating Part B medical drug prior authorization requests in accordance with CMS regulations and clinical coverage standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with prescribers and infusion centers to verify information, relay case outcomes, and discuss clinical details.
- Promote effective and appropriate utilization review of prescription drug claims among participating physicians.
- Educate physicians and influence prescribing practices to optimize the Client's drug benefit expenditures while enhancing the quality of benefits for our members.
Liaison Role:
The incumbent will act as a liaison to the Medical Policy department, contributing to the formulation of medical policies related to pharmaceuticals.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree or Doctorate in Pharmacy is required.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in consulting with physicians on pharmaceutical matters or completion of an accredited residency program (ASHP, AMCP, or Managed Care Pharmacy) is essential.
- An active and unrestricted pharmacy license in Michigan is mandatory.
- Previous experience as a Clinical Pharmacist is necessary for this classification.
- Candidates with a background as a Drug Information Specialist will also be considered.
Essential Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in hospital or retail pharmacy settings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make independent decisions.
Education/Certifications:
- PharmD or BS in Pharmacy.
- Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the State of Michigan.
