Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Respiratory Services Director to join our team at Advocate Health. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our Respiratory Care Department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives in alignment with hospital and system objectives.
  • Collaborate with Medical Directors, Administration, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination of departmental activities.
  • Develop and enforce written policies and procedures to ensure the safe and effective delivery of patient care.
  • Ensure adequate staffing and optimal patient care for assigned areas.
  • Monitor and evaluate departmental performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with hospital and system guidelines.
  • Perform human resources responsibilities, including interviewing, selecting, and developing staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety and health regulations, as well as the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct.
Requirements
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent knowledge.
  • At least 5 years of experience in respiratory therapy, including 1 year of supervisory experience in support operations, fiscal, and human resources related activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Effective problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires sitting for the majority of the workday, with occasional standing and walking. The incumbent must be able to operate all necessary equipment and be exposed to a normal office environment.
