General Overview
The role of a Custodial Worker I is essential for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within various facilities and transit vehicles. This position operates under direct supervision, adhering to established protocols and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
The following duties represent the primary responsibilities associated with this position. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary.

Core Duties:
1. Dispose of waste materials and recyclables from designated areas.
2. Dust and polish furniture, shelves, and countertops to ensure a clean environment.
3. Perform floor maintenance including mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing.
4. Clean and sanitize restrooms, ensuring all supplies are replenished.
5. Maintain cleanliness of windows, walls, and woodwork.
6. Organize custodial supply areas and report any inventory needs.
7. Follow safety protocols for the use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
8. Set up furniture for various events and meetings.
9. Clear walkways of snow and debris.

Additional Responsibilities:
1. Assist with mail and supply deliveries.
2. Maintain outdoor grounds and report any abandoned items.
3. Clean and prepare vehicles for maintenance.
4. Undertake other related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED is required. A minimum of six months of relevant experience or a combination of training and experience is preferred.

Preferred Skills:
Experience in cleaning within public or commercial facilities is advantageous. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends, is essential.

Licenses:
A valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
