Assistant Educator and Transportation Specialist
Position Overview
The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians is seeking a dedicated individual to fulfill the role of Assistant Educator and Transportation Specialist. This position is integral to providing a nurturing and culturally relevant preschool experience that enhances school readiness for children aged 3 to 4 years.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Assisting in the planning and execution of developmentally appropriate activities that reflect Native American culture.
- Ensuring a safe and efficient transportation service for children.
- Implementing daily educational plans and maintaining an organized classroom environment.
- Conducting home visits to support families and assess their needs.
- Preparing and delivering nutritious meals, while engaging with children during mealtime.
- Participating in training programs, including the Child Development Associate (CDA) program.
- Maintaining a clean and safe bus environment, conducting safety checks, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in any field, or a High School Diploma/GED with six months of experience in early childhood education.
- A commitment to obtaining a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential within two years of hire.
- A valid Oregon School Bus Driver's Certificate and Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain them within a specified timeframe.
Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Effective communication skills with low-income families.
- A positive approach to guiding child behavior.
- The ability to work collaboratively with staff and families from diverse backgrounds.
- Reliability and punctuality in fulfilling job responsibilities.
- The physical capability to support children's activities and ensure their safety.
Additional Requirements
New hires will be required to obtain a Food Handlers card and First Aid/CPR certification within specified timeframes. A tuberculosis screening will also be necessary.
