Job Summary

As a Recreational Therapist at Danbury Hospital, you will play a vital role in providing activities and treatment to remediate functional abilities and assist in diagnostic and personality evaluation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' social, emotional, physical, leisure, and cognitive abilities.
  • Develop and update treatment plans through writing goals and objectives.
  • Implement treatment with intervention techniques and conduct groups.
  • Design programs by developing protocols and selecting activities based on population.
  • Implement activity analysis as part of Evaluation Programs.
  • Prepare individual patient progress notes and discharge summaries related to leisure.
  • Communicate verbally with staff regarding patients.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain networks with other health professionals, activities therapists, and community services.
  • Develop resources and contacts for patients' community involvement.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and skill of group dynamics, professional standards, and community resources.
  • Therapeutic Recreational Specialist Certification required.
  • Minimum Experience: 3 years.
Working Conditions
  • Manual: Some manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity.
  • Occupational: Some occupational risk.
  • Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force.
  • Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions.
