Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled veterinary technician to join our team at North Colony Animal Clinic. As a veterinary technician, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and positive client experiences.
Key Responsibilities:- Triaging patients, taking vital signs, and acquiring patient history and other information from clients.
- Restraining animals during exams or procedures, and assisting with diagnostic procedures.
- Discussing treatment plans and estimates, and payment options with clients.
- Acquiring blood samples, inserting IV catheters, and monitoring anesthesia, ventilators, and fluid therapy.
- Operating autoclaves, processing specimens in the in-house laboratory, and submitting specimens to outside laboratories.
- Calculating medication dosages, providing dosage instructions for clients, and entering patients' service charges into the computer database.
- Explaining patient instructions to clients, sharing educational materials, and preparing and maintaining exam rooms, surgery suites, treatment areas, and recovery area to the highest level of sanitation.
- 2+ years of work experience as a veterinary technician preferred, but entry-level available.
- Proficient computer skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and a strong affinity for animals.
- Outstanding people skills, ability to multitask in a dynamic environment, and understanding of the importance of prioritizing tasks and keeping oneself busy and productive during work shifts.
- Team player with sufficient physical strength, mobility, and stamina to lift and/or move heavy pets and objects up to 50lbs, standing for extended periods of time, and excessive kneeling with up/down motion.
