Job Title: Behavioral Health Technician

Dunbar Community Counseling Services is seeking a highly skilled Behavioral Health Technician to join our team in West and Southwest Philadelphia.

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health Technician will provide one-to-one mental health intervention to children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances, with the goal of preventing more restrictive services or out-of-home placement and promoting age-appropriate psychosocial growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized mental health interventions to children and adolescents, including positive behavior reinforcement, crisis intervention techniques, time-structuring, and social interaction modeling.
  • Collaborate with families, teachers, and other adults to develop skills and techniques needed to integrate children into normalizing activities.
  • Assist families and teachers in providing direct supervision and therapeutic structure and limits for children.
  • Implement behavioral intervention plans and alternative activities to redirect challenging behaviors.
  • Support problem-solving skill development, instruction on stress reduction techniques, and collection of data.
  • Provide behavioral stabilization and interventions to support services provided by a behavior specialist or mobile therapist.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, education, or related field.
  • Equivalent degree from a foreign college or university, evaluated by the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. or the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services.
  • Associate's degree or at least 60 credits towards a bachelor's degree, with a minimum of 1 year of full-time experience in providing mental health direct services to children, youth, or young adults.
  • Certification as a BCaBA, RBT, BCAT, or behavior health certification from an organization accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies or the American National Standards Institute.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of a 40-hour training covering the RBT Task List, as evidenced by a certification that includes the name of the responsible trainer, who is certified as a BCBA or BCaBA.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the provision of behavioral health services, valid child Abuse, criminal history, CPR/First Aid, and FBI clearances.
